PRODUCTS ONLINE ANALYZER CALIBRATION Thermo Fisher Scientific announced the immediate availability of its new soft- ware, Thermo Scientific AccuLINK. This latest software offering provides cement manufacturers with a fully automatic means of continuously comparing the analysis values from an online prompt gamma neutron activation analysis (PGNAA) analyzer with laboratory x-ray fluorescence (XRF) analyses, ensuring unparalleled online accuracy and consis- tent and reliable calibrations. AccuLINK provides statistical and graphical data analysis so that operators and QC man- agers can ensure calibration adjust- ments are appropriate. Additionally, AccuLINK software automatically stores all performance and calibration data for future auditing, trending, and review. "Having this new link assures our ce- ment customers that their online system is performing just like their laboratory system and helps ensure that their kiln feed chemistry will be more consistent," CAPACITANCE PROBE BinMaster Level Controls introduces a newly designed Pro Remote capacitance probe that offers the ability to mount the sensor's electronic components up to 75 feet away from the sensing probe. This point level indicator is designed specifically for hostile applica- tions such as high temperatures or excessive vibra- tion, featuring a unique "split" configuration that houses sensitive electronics away from extreme con- ditions that may interfere with proper probe opera- tion. The Pro Remote can be used for high-, mid-, and low-level detection of solids, liquids, or slurries using a variety of Delrin, Teflon, food grade, flush- mounted, stubby, or extended probe options. The Pro Remote capacitance probe features a new housing with a triple-thread, screw-off cover that al- lows easy access to internal components and an FDA- recognized power coat finish. This housing also has dual conduit entries to simplify wiring and installa- tion. Another new electronic feature is a dual time delay that allows the user to set flexible time delays for covered and uncovered conditions. This allows the user to set a probe to react either immediately or with up to a 30-second delay when it detects a cov- 22 ered or uncovered state. For example, the capaci- tance probe can be set to send an immediate alert when it reaches a covered state, but can be set to alert with a 15-second delay when it detects an un- covered state. The split-component design of the Pro Remote al- lows the use of a capacitance probe in applications where a standard probe would fail due to high tem- peratures or extreme vibration. Like BinMaster's other PROCAP capacitance probes, the Pro Remote pro- vides high sensitivity and accurate level detection without the use of RF (radio frequency) signals, so it will not interfere with two- way radio communications or other elec- tronic equipment in the plant. "Quick-set" calibration makes the Pro Remote easy to use, and a visual LED status light lets a user know if the probe is in a covered or uncovered condition. "This is a step forward for cement operations because it can mean even tighter quality control, lead- ing to even lower fuel usage per ton of clinker with longer brick life and less CO2 production." AccuLINK can be used in a manual or fully automatic configuration de- pending on the make and model of the plant, XRF equipment, and the prefer- ence of the plant personnel. In the fully automatic configuration, the software package links two leading Thermo Fisher products: Thermo Scientific ARL series XRF analyzers (i.e. ARL 9900, Advantx or Optim'X) and the Thermo Scientific CB Omni or CB Omni Flex on- line PGNAA analyzers. AccuLINK will also work with any laboratory XRF equipment in a manual mode. Thermo Fisher Scientific, www.thermoscientific.com/cement
